Anyone can make a referral to Central Indiana First Steps.
"My daughter was born at 3lbs. 6oz., and she had developmental delays. She required First Steps until she was three years old...This is a great program!"
- JC (parent)
Getting started with First Steps is an easy process that begins with a phone call to the Systems Point of Entry (SPOE) office (317-257-2229) or by completing the online referral form. Once a referral is received, an Intake Coordinator contacts the family within two business days. At that time, she will talk to the family about the First Steps program and the developmental concerns they may have for their child. She will schedule the Eligibility Determination (ED) Team to conduct a free evaluation on the child in his/her home at a time convenient for the family. The ED Team, which consists of trained early intervention therapists, will evaluate the child in all developmental areas to determine whether First Steps services are warranted.
